You could remove the old set screw which only puts presser on the square shaft between the knobs. Then you would drill a hole in the square shaft and tap the hole for a new and longer screw that will now go trough the hole in the door knob and into the tapped hole in the sqaure shaft. This method will fix the problem for good.
