Finite and infinite scheduling
WebDec 5, 2013 · Use Finite capacity in weekly operation or job scheduling. The common practice in discrete manufacturing industries is a regular MRP run, (at least weekly) infinite capacity. Then for the short term, we run Operation or Job Scheduling with finite capacity. There are a few important points to keep in mind. WebEnabling Finite capacity is done via multiple setups in Master Planning, Production, and at the Resource level. This allows you to set the system so that Finite capacity is used in the short term to plan exact scheduling times, and infinite capacity is used in calendar days that are further out than the Capacity time fence.

Weboccurrences over the infinite time span [4-8]. Yet, in reality, the life time of a system is always finite. For systems with a finite life time, although there do exist some PM models in literature, however, the models are complicated and need numerical methods to find the optimal solution [9-12].
