However, 8 of the 16 pockets have their gradual infill lines printed in mid-air, and none of the successive gradual infill lines ever connect to the adjacent infill lines. At layer 49, the top layers begin printing.

WebLines infill will print complete lines from one end of the print to the other, alternating direction on each layer. As a side note, it doesn't matter if your infill connects. It's only there to hold up the top surfaces of the print.
